Hands On London (HOL) is a small non-profit organization that helps small charities meet their volunteer needs by providing flexible and convenient volunteering opportunities to members of the public, in turn enabling and encouraging busy Londoners to 'give back' to their community.
HOL partners with small charities to develop their volunteering needs and create opportunities adding impact to their core work. Together with our charity partners, we organise a range of volunteer projects including activities with children, assisting in soup kitchens, helping to improve the environment, helping the elderly and helping people with disabilities.
In addition to our core volunteering work, HOL also runs an annual Wrap Up London (WUL) campaign in November to collect gently worn coats for homeless shelters and women and children's refuges. Last year we collected 15,000 coats during our campaign.
HOL has been recognised for its core volunteering work and WUL campaign by the Prime Ministers Office as well as other press outlets including the Evening Standard and GLC radio. HOL is very proud of all that it has achieved since it was established in 2010 and has ambitious goals for the next chapter.
HOL runs on a small, dedicated and hard-working staff of four: CEO/Project Team Leader, Charities Relationship Manager, Project Manager/Fundraising and Admin, and Finance Manager. HOL finances itself through grants, donations and corporate volunteering projects for which we charge a project management fee. In these projects we work with corporate partners to design and manage employee volunteering actives that meet the philanthropic goals of the partner. We have worked with Google, Amex, Christie's, Visa, J Crew, to name but a few.
HOL has a small but active board who work closely with the CEO and staff. The board meets every 4-6 weeks to discuss the management of the charity, current challenges, financial outlook and general strategy.
