Andrew Romans: Founder and General Partner - Rubicon Venture Capital
Patrick Magee: Chief Operating Officer - British Business Bank
Andrew Romans, General Partner, Rubicon Venture Capital, (Georgetown MBA 2001), will talk about how to grow your business with Venture Capital funding and how the Venture Capital business has evolved in Europe and the United States. Romans lived in Europe for 15 years and worked in the London VC industry for 10 years before returning to the Silicon Valley where he has been based for the last 5 years.
Rubicon Venture Capital is a very active early stage VC fund with offices in San Francisco and New York City (founded by two Georgetown alumni) focused on backing consumer and enterprise technology companies in the internet, software and connected hardware verticals at Late Seed, Series A and B stages.
Patrick Magee, Chief Operating Officer, British Business Bank, (Georgetown MBA 1994) will talk about the crucial partnership between Economic Development banks and early stage companies in the context of the venture capital industry as well as the changes in VC regulation in the context of Brexit. Magee has advised on a broad range of M&A, Capital Markets, and Corporate Broking Assignments including the defence of NatWest and the sale of Thomas Cook. Before joining the British Business Bank, Magee was a Managing Director for JP Morgan Casanova, having worked at the predecessor firm for almost 18 years.
The British Business Bank is one of the largest investors in early stage VC in the UK with some£600m committed to over 30 different funds.
