Each year, alumni, faculty, students, staff, family members and friends of the Georgetown community travel to a different city to celebrate the university and the leaders it creates. The weekend is packed with social, cultural and intellectual events that give participants the chance to engage with one another and with Georgetown's outstanding faculty and university leaders.

The UK Hoyas were hosts of John Carroll Weekend in 2013 (video here) in London. This alumni gathering brought together more than 1,400 guests to learn, explore and celebrate with fellow alumni, family and friends from around the world. It was, to date, the largest-ever gathering of Georgetown alumni outside the United States.

We walked to the top of St. Paul’s towering dome, toured some of the world’s most opulent palaces and celebrated teatime at the Ritz. We saw the future of Saudi Arabia’s solar energy plans and honored a beloved professor from years past, Jan Karski (G’52, H’83). We explored Winston Churchill’s War Rooms, sipped pints at London’s legendary pubs and honored the best of our community at the grand Guildhall. Our President even had a chat with former Secretary of State and Georgetown professor Madeleine Albright and Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts, later to be joined with a surprise appearance by music star will.i.am

The UK Hoyas community was instrumental in making John Carroll London such a success - the Club submitted the proposal for hosting it in London and several of our alumni served on the Leadership Board, helping with the strategic vision, planning and organization of the weekend.
